singular in texas

chilton, texas: dad's hometown: in july of 2004, i found myself singular in texas. i had planned to make the trip with my parents as usual to visit my grandmother and aunts and uncle, but as dad was having back trouble, i made the trip alone for the first time. it was an odd feeling speeding alone down highway 6 from marlin to chilton in granny's car; i wasn't just tagging along this time, groggy in the backseat from an 11-hour drive. after taking this picture, i kept scanning for another picture of chilton, but there is not much more to it than that besides a town neighborhood and the local school. dad tells me that "faulk's grocery" is where he always use to buy candy as a kid at lunchtime.
